Pensacola Beaches
Gulf Islands National Seashore
(off Pensacola) is an
almost unbroken stretch of pristine white sand that runs
160 miles (256 kms) from Cat Island in
Mississippi to the eastern tip of Santa Rosa Island in Florida.
The
snowy-white sand beaches, sparkling waters, coastal marshes, and dense
maritime forests are the highlights of this natural wonder. East
of the national seashore lie the beautiful
Grayton Beach State Park
near Destin and
St. George Island State Park off
Apalachicola.
St. Andrews State Park (4607
State Park Lane, Panama City Beach) offers visitors over 1,000 acres
of pristine white sand beaches and dunes in a preserved wilderness area.
The park is known for its sugar white sands and crystal-clear emerald
green water and is one of the most popular outdoor recreation spots in Florida.
Sea oats dot the dunes and fragrant rosemary grows wild. The area
is home to foxes, coyotes, and a herd of deer.
Visitors to
the Pensacola and Panama City Beach area will find a wide choice of
vacation accommodation to suit all tastes
and budgets, ranging from traditional and boutique hotels, holiday resorts, self catering apartments and
bed and breakfast establishments. |
