Cedar Key Vacation HighlightsThe Cedar Key Scrub State Reserve is located 6 miles (10km) north east of Cedar Key on the western edge of Levy County. The reserve is managed by the Division of Recreation and Parks, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Division of Forestry. Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge shows visitors a natural untouched Florida and is a refuge providing food, cover and nesting sites for native and migrating wildlife. It also provides excellent visitor areas. |

An array of foot and kayak/canoe trails are provided throughout the refuge as well as 3 accessible fishing piers. A popular attraction is Shell Mound, a 3,000 year old site which now has a fishing pier and a kayak/canoe launch. A wonderfully natural and relaxing park to visit is Manatee Springs State Park which lies 6 miles (10km) west of Chiefland. Fanning Springs State Park enjoys a beautiful location along the Suwannee River. The park offers swimming in the crystal clear 72 deg year round springs and canoeing/kayaking access to the Suwannee River. Kayak trips around the Cedar Key islands or up the Suwannee River looking for dolphins, manatees and birds. |

The small but beautiful Steinhatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico provide a backdrop for canoeing, boating, fishing and summertime scalloping. The parks and reserves
offer visitors a wide selection of activities and facilities such as
bicycle trails, horseback trails, fishing, hiking

scuba, snorkeling and historical sites. |
