Daytona Beach FloridaDaytona Beach is known to all motoring enthusiasts as the home of the Daytona 500 motor race. The city first attracted motor racing enthusiasts in the early 1900s who came to race on the unique, hard-packed sand beach. For many years in the early 1900's, Daytona Beach was the place where speed record attempts took place. Although now limited to certain controlled areas, and with environmental safeguards in place, beach driving still takes place. |
