The newest Disney attraction, this venue houses 22 water slides, "icy" bobsled runs and Summit Plummet, the world's fastest free fall at 60 mph from the 120 foot summit. There is a 90 foot snow capped mountain in the middle of a Florida style ski resort with "snow" from a "freak Florida snowstorm," creating snowy slopes. Comfortably warm and thrillingly fast, this is family enjoyment.
A 56-acre surfside playground left behind by a "great storm". Located near Downtown Disney West Side, Typhoon Lagoon features a 2.5 acre wave-making lagoon with surfing-size breaking waves and saltwater shark reef. Wonderful waterways, relaxing rivers and thrill rides on the man-made watershed mountain with roaring rapids, plus eight twisting-and-turning water slides. At least 35 scheduled airlines and almost as many charter companies fly into Orlando International Airport. Delta runs nearly 25% of the flights from around 160 cities. Other carriers include Air Canada, America West, American, British Airways, Continental, Northwest and US Airways. Amtrak has services to and from Orlando and many of the surrounding towns such as Kissimmee, Sebring, Winter Haven, Sanford and Ocala. A trolley service called the I Ride provides a fun way to get around the International Drive Resort Area. The LYNX bus service is provided by the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority and covers the Orlando and surrounding cities metropolitan areas.
